Servietten, Lack
(eingerahmt, hinter Glass)

30.5 x 40.5

Napkins, paint
(framed, behind glass)

30.5 x 40.5

During his hospitalization in 2019, Paydar expressed himself artistically using neon markers from its personnel on bibs. These experiences then manifested into a majority of paintings and collages on and with napkins that resulted.

Whether as Latzerl (bibs) or simple napkins in restaurants and apartments mostly have these, in addition to decorative values, the actual function of wiping away, laminating and at the same time but also as a canvas for food leftovers and other bodily liquids.
Now in the history of art, however, often enough artists have been allowed to pay their bills with sketches on such ephemeral surfaces, such as Franz West, for example, in Viennese coffeehouses!

Opening of the group exhibition "Next Erasmus +, Artists for Artistic Formation", curated by Luisa Kloos.

17.5.23 at the PM Gallery, Home of HDLU / Meštrović Pavilion Zagreb

Digital Booklet

The exhibition is presenting the current artistic production of seven guest artists from Styria who have participated in the Erasmus + project, Artists for Artistic Expression. Their works are dedicated to individual and social themes and aesthetic issues of our time. The artists use different materials and media in their work, including painting, sculpture, graphics, photography, ceramics, installation, sculpture and video.

The artists are Erik Drevenšek, Maryam Farhang, Birgit Fedl-Dohr, Johannes Herster, Lotte Hubmann, Luise Kloos, Erwin Lackner, Paul Lässer, Amalija Lalić Stanić, Stefan Lozar, Keyvan Paydar, Igor F. Petković, Robert Sauerbrey aka Karl Banano, Barbara Schmid, Maria Schneider, Edda Strobl, Eero Teuschl.

Erasmus+ is the European programme for visual and cultural diversity. In the framework of the project Artists for Artistic Formation, one year of two weeks of training for artists from Styria, the artists from Styria will be offering their studios, time and structure to young future artists from Croatia. The results that the students have achieved will be presented at the venue. The relationship between Croatian students and Styrian artists has been established for eight years. About 150 young people from Zagreb, Osijek, Split, Zadar, Pula and Rijeka, as well as professors in their studies, have participated in this debate so far. Many further contacts have been established, and some students have successfully enrolled in art studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Beč or completed a master course at the Ortweinschule in Graz.

On the site of each Erasmus + program, croatian students present their work in a professional showcase in Graz. The cultural institutions and art collectives of Graz, such as Roter Keil, Schaumbad - Freies Atelierhaus Graz, Galerie Centrum and the Ortweinschule Graz are permanent partners of these exhibitions over years.
